A 51 year labourer has allegedly been killed by his wife following a domestic dispute in Kalulushi District on the Copperbelt province.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Charity Katanga could neither confirmed or deny the incident when contacted by ZANIS today.
Ms. Katanga when contacted maintained that Mr. Chanda died a sudden and unnatural death adding that an inquiry file has since been opened.
Ms. Katanga said the deceased was first rushed to the hospital by his relatives without informing the police where he finally died adding that his relatives became stuck as hospital authorities demanded a police report.
However close family sources who sought anonymity, confirmed the incident saying the deceased whom they named as Frank Chanda, 51 of Kalulushi district killed himself following a domestic fight with his wife.
The sources told ZANIS in an interview that the deceased died by taking doom in shame after suspecting that he had killed his wife who lay unconscious on the floor.
“When a fight ensued between the two, his wife was alleged to have fallen to the ground and the deceased thought she had died thus fear gripped him and later decided to take his own life by administering the famous doom,” said the sources.
The sources said that after consuming a bottle of doom, a Mr. Gilbert Chungu with the help of other relatives rushed Mr. Chanda to Kalulushi general hospital but before he could be treated, he died.
