Construction works at the Copperbelt International Airport have advanced, and Copperbelt Permanent
Secretary (PS), Bright Nundwe has nodded the steady progress being registered at the multi-million dollar project.
Mr Nundwe told ZANIS in an interview in Ndola, ” the works at the airport are on course, we have reached 40 percent now. I have noted there is steady progress at the Copperbelt International airport and this shows works have intensified.”
The PS said the contractor- AVIC International has maintained that the project will be handed over to government latest October 2020.
He said he is happy with the quality of workmanship which the contractor has continued to exhibit from the time the project commenced and urged them to maintain the same standard, cautioning that
scanty works will not be entertained.
He said government will continue rendering the necessary support to the contractor to ensure the project is completed on time, further stating its completion brings a lot of fortunes to the province and
the entire country.
ZANIS reports that Mr Nundwe said the $400 million United States dollars project coupled with multiple road projects, the Copperbelt province is on course to becoming a transport hub that services the country, SADC and COMESA regions.
