Luapula Minister Nickson Chilangwa has observed Chembe District’s economy is headed for more development following the soon to be commissioned Mansa Sugar crashing plant.
Speaking when he inspected construction works for the sugar plantation at Mansa sugar estate in Chembe District, today, Mr. Chilangwa noted that the landscape and economy of Chembe as a district will never be the same when Mansa sugar is finally on the shelves of supermarkets in the country.
The Minister says he wants to ensure that Mansa sugar takes the lead in ensuring that each District in Luapula Province has an anchor project which will help push the economy in the region.
Mr. Chilangwa says the Provincial Administration will give support to all investors coming in the country and called the investors to show commitment towards developing Luapula Province.
He has since urged Management at Mansa Sugar of government support and assured the company that their investment is protected as it will change the lives of the people whose interest government saves.
And Mansa Sugar Head of Agriculture Nihar Shah disclosed that the company has so far grown about 800 hectares of cane out of the targeted 1000 hectares this year.
Mr. Shah says agriculture production is growing very fast and that the company is next year considering increasing the hectares of the plantation to 1000 more hectares.
