Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Godfridah Sumaili says the church is very instrumental in helping the country inculcate good values such as morality, national unity, patriotism and good governance.
Revered Sumaili explained that the church is also an equal partner in the development of the country.
The Minister said this when she paid a courtesy call on Northern Province Minister Bwalya Chungu at his office in Kasama.
She has praised the contribution of the church in projects such as the construction of national house of prayer, the project which she said is progressing well.
Reverend Sumaili has expressed confidence that with support from the church, Zambia will continue on the path of national development.
And Northern Province Minister Bwalya Chungu has explained that the church in the province is well coordinated.
Mr Chungu has further called on the church to help enrich the culture of Christianity, patriotism and oneness in the country.
Meanwhile Rev. Sumaili who later held a meeting with the Kasama Pastors Fellowship also challenged the church to uphold integrity when carrying out the work of God.
Reverend Sumaili said there is need for churches to maintain sanity even as it embarks on the self-regulatory framework.
She further encouraged the church in the province to be exemplary in carrying out their mandate as they are the mirror of society.
