Wecreate Zambia Executive Director, Nambula Kachumi has commended Government for laying an effective platform to enhance entrepreneurship for women.
Ms Kachummi said in an interview during the 2018, Zambia FemBioBiz Accelerated Program Grand Finale and Pitch Presentation held today at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka, that Government is playing a key role to ensure that women adequately contribute to the national development of the country.
She said entrepreneurship is now the economic model of not only Zambia but Africa as a whole noting that, what is most critical is government’s interest to try and get as more entrepreneurs to participate in national development.
“I think women entrepreneurs have the potential to contribute significantly to the economy, “she said.
Ms. Kachumi said Wecreate Zambia is working with the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Gender to expose women entrepreneurs to resources that will help them venture into businesses.
Four Zambian women entrepreneurs have been selected to represent Zambia at the Southern Africa Innovation Summit organised by Southern Africa Network for Biosciences (SANBio).
And BioFISA Programme Manager, Zvikomborero Tangawamira said SANBio is working to empower women with business skills in Southern Africa.
“We support women to acquire innovation in nutrition and we have invested R21million to train and empower women in nutrition. Our target is to end malnutrition, “she said.
