The installation of television screens in selected parts of Mwense district is set to begin next month.
This follows the agreement signed by government with the Chinese government to install Television screens in various places throughout the country.
Assistant Director in the Ministry Of General Education Kapulo Musonda disclosed the development when he paid a courtesy call on Chieftainess Lukwesa at her palace yesterday.
Mr. Musonda said Mwense district will benefit five TV screens which will be installed at Mulundu, Kashiba, Shichama, Musangu and Musungampashi Primary Schools.
Mr. Musonda said the TV screens are meant to benefit members of the public to be watching current affairs especially those who cannot afford owning a TV set.
He said the screens will be both electricity and solar powered to afford people an opportunity to watch even when there is no power.
Mr. Musonda added that 20 decoders will also be given to the nearby households who can afford to be paying a subscription fee.
He also disclosed that local people will be trained to operate the TV screens and that people in the surrounding areas will be watching the programmes for five years without paying any subscription fee.
