Foreign Affairs Minister, Joseph Malanji says government is impressed with initiatives the church has continued to undertake in order to improve lives of the people.
Mr Malanji says the church shares the same goals as government as they both save the same community.
ZANIS reports that Mr Malanji was speaking during the Palm Sunday celebrations in Solwezi today.
Mr Malanji also donated two solar hummer mills towards the ecumenical Palm Sunday committee comprising of the Catholic, United Church of Zambia (UCZ), Anglican and Africa Methodist Churches in Solwezi.
Mr Malanji further donated 10, 000 Kwacha while, North western province Patriotic Front(PF) Chairperson, Jackson Kungo donated 5,000 kwacha to the churches to support the vulnerable in society.
He also called on the churches to form a cooperative to effectively run the two hammer mills that will generate them income that can be channeled towards helping the poor.
And speaking at the same event, Moses Chitundu of UCZ holy trinity congregation called on government officials to unite the people.
He added that the slogan of one Zambia one nation must not be lip say but politicians must take the lead and help unity Zambians.
Rev Chitundu said leaders must also embrace the teachings of Jesus if they are to promote Zambia as a Christian nation.
After the Palm Sunday processions, the Minister later took time to attend mass at St Daniel’s cathedral parish where he donated 10, 000 Kwacha towards building of a school at the church, 20,000 towards the paving of the church surrounding and K5, 000 to the choir.
