United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has called on the church to pray for national leaders to rule the country accordingly.
Mr Hichilema says leaders need the spiritual guidance of the Holy Spirit if they are to propel the nation to greater heights.
ZANIS reports that the UPND Leader said this when he attended a church service at the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) St Paul’s Congregation in Mansa today.
Earlier, St Paul’s Congregation Reverend Moses Zgambo urged the church members to be special ambassadors of peace.
Rev Zgambo said peace is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit and that children of God should exhibit that in all spheres of life.
He said the church is praying for both the ruling party and opposition parties to work together in unity.
The Reverend added that he is particularly praying that the upcoming Bahati parliamentary by- election be conducted in a non-violence manner.
