Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) president, Bishop George Lungu has called on diocesan priests across the country to lead by example and preach Gods love to his people.
Speaking during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Association of the Zambian Diocesan Catholic Clergy (AZADCC) being held under the theme: “Thanking God for 50 years of being Missionaries to ourselves through our priestly service to the Church, Bishop Lungu said priests must keep the faith of Jesus Christ alive in society.
Bishop Lungu added that the association rejoices not only because of the 50 years of service but because of the substantial and irreplaceable contribution of priests to the church and society in preaching God’s love.
And North western province minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu has commended the church for closely working with the Church in improving the welfare of the people.
Mr Mubukwanu also appealed to the Church to promote unity and love among the people in society and to encourage citizens to depart from hate speech which threatens the national motto of “one Zambian, one Nation.
He added that the church must also preach a message of hardwork and kill the mentality of “boma iyaganepo” which is common among Zambians.
The minister said this in a speech read on his behalf by Solwezi district commissioner, Rosemary Kamalonga.
