President Edgar Lungu has assured the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) of government’s commitment in ensuring that the Church thrives.

President Lungu says his government promotes peace and unity and rendering help to the SDA, in order to grow the Church, remains top priority of government’s agenda.

The Head of State noted that government remains resolute to assist religious groupings whose aim is to foster peace in the country.

President Lungu has also encouraged Church leaders in the country not to relent in preaching the word of unity and love, in their various Congregations.

He reminded the Church leaders countrywide of their duty to ensure that their flock is fed with messages that promote oneness in the country.

ZANIS reports that President Lungu was speaking this morning during a Church service at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church Buchi Congregation, in Kitwe this morning.

And President Lungu has donated 1000 bags of cement to the congregation whose Church infrastructure is currently under construction.

And Northern Zambia Union Conference of the SDA Church Executive Secretary Tommy Namitondo, in his message during the Church service encouraged all those elected to power, to ensure that infrastructure development is prioritized in order to ensure that members congregate in a conducive environment.

He named Church and School Infrastructure as some of the challenges that are lacking in the SDA church.

Dr Namitondo has since appealed to government to also enhance the growth of education among the youths in the Church, who he described as currently out of school due to lack of available Community schools, that mostly offer free education to scholars.

And one of the long standing members of the Church, who is also Minster of Tourism and Arts, Ronald Chitotela pledged to help construct a community school in the area, to help mitigate the challenges that are faced by young scholars in the community.

The SDA Buchi Congregation was established in 1991 as a small congregation before it was later developed into a fully-fledged Church in 1995.

Earlier this morning, President Lungu was up at 05:00 to lead scores of Kitwe residents in a 5 kilometer walk and aerobics at the Edgar Lungu mall in Kitwe.
