A 22 -YEAR -old man of Kamokamo mutitima Village has died after being stabbed with a spear following a dispute that arose during a beer drinking spree.
ZANIS reports that Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase has confirmed the incident in an interview in Shiwang’andu today.
Engineer Njase has identified the deceased person as Mwelwa Chibamba of Kamokamo mutitima Village in Chief Nkula’s area.
The Police Commissioner disclosed that Chibamba met his fate on Sunday at around 20:hours when Moses Bwalya stabbed him on the chest.
Chibamba who sustained deep wounds on the right side of his chest, was rushed to Chinsali District Hospital on the same day and unfortunately died yesterday around 15:00 hours.
The suspect has since been apprehended and is currently in Police custody at Chinsali Central Police waiting to appear in the court.
Engineer Njase has lamented that it is unfortunate that a life has been lost due to alcohol abuse especially among young ones, adding that consequences of such abuse is impaired reasoning which results in criminal acts.
He has since appealed to village headmen in Muchinga province to help advance social and economic development through creative activities such as fish farming among other ventures.
The Police Commissioner has further urged Village Headmen and parents to take keen interest in activities of the youths and provide direction for a better future.
He has also urged youths to take what has transpired as a learning curve on dangers of both drug and alcohol abuse.
