Police in Mongu have arrested a 25 year old man of Mandanga compound for theft by servant and fraud involving over K140, 000.

Western Province Police Commissioner, Charles Lungu confirmed the arrest of Fred Mongwa Mutemwa to ZANIS in Mongu.

Mr. Lungu said Mutemwa an employee of Good Fellow Distributors Limited was allegedly involved in theft and fraudulent activities.

He further said it is alleged that the suspect was involved in the illegal activities between October 2017 and June 2018 as he was serving as Branch Manager for Mongu.

The Police Commissioner added that the suspect is alleged to have misused funds for the financial lending institution by not depositing it in the bank.

He explained that the company management sent an auditor to the company’s Mongu branch after noticing that Mr. Mutemwa was not depositing funds through their system and was found with a shortage of over k140, 000.

Mr. Mutemwa has since been charged with 55 counts of theft by servant and 12 counts of fraudulent false accounting bringing the total number of counts to 67.
