The Mungwi Hotspurs Football Club is appealing for financial support from well-wishers to enable the team compete favourably in the Division 1 Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) MTN Super league.

Mungwi Hotspurs Football Club Chairperson Chikonde Mbalazi revealed that though the team has been promoted to the Division 1 Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) league, it was in dire need of various resources to enable the members compete favourably and competently during the league.

He added that the financial support will go towards hiring of Transport, feeding the players, lodging and the purchase of sports jerseys, football boots and footballs among other items.

Mbalazi has since appealed to business houses and other well-wishers to support the club fulfil its desire to prepare for the league and make an impact when the football season kicks off, later this month.

And Club Patron Kaniki Bwalya has commended the team, for working hard to qualify to the Division 1 league.

Mr. Bwalya, who is also Mungwi District Commissioner, said government remains committed to improve the welfare of young people by ensuring that programmes that are aimed at empowering youths are adequately supported.

He said the sustenance of the club will depend on the support of various stakeholder, who will be compelled to come forward and help the team with its preparations.

Mr. Bwalya further stated that one of the urgent needs of Mungwi Hotspurs Football Club, which has been in existence since 2006, was the fencing of their football pitch.
