Over 400 vulnerable but viable farmers in Mwansabombwe district in Luapula Province have benefited from the 2018/2019 Food Security Pack programme.
Speaking to ZANIS in an interview, District Community Development Officer, Elizabeth Museesa said the beneficiaries have all proved that they are vulnerable and in need of government help, in order to improve their lives and status in society.
Ms. Museesa disclosed that, 7 percent of the Food Security Pack inputs have gone to the physically disabled people of Mubanda community who for a long time have requested for government support.
And speaking during the distribution of the inputs, Mwansabombwe District Administrative Officer, John Mwasha, said the Food Security Pack Programme is clear indication that government is working to ensure that everyone is made food secure.
Mr. Mwasha said the 450 vulnerable but viable farmers benefiting from the programme are an addition to the 300, who benefited in the 2017/2018 farming season.
Mr. Mwasha has since emphasized on the need to plough back into the economy saying that is the only way, to ensure the sustainability of the programme.
