President Edgar Lungu has called for unity and patriotism among the Patriotic Front (PF) officials.
President Lungu said this in Chinsali today, during the official opening of Muchinga Province elective conference taking place at Kapasa Makasa University.
The Head of State said it is through unity and patriotism that can bring about development in an area and the country at large.
He urged party officials to remain committed, royal, united and respectful if only the party is to grow and remain united, adding that Zambians know who is working and who is not working.
President Lungu added that he will not tolerate any indiscipline by some individuals who would want to disrespect the Patriotic Front (PF).
And the Head of State stated that he is mindful that the province has a lot of history because of the gallant men and women who originated from Muchinga Province.
He mentioned the first Republican President, Kenneth Kaunda, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe and Kapasa Makasa among others, as those to be respected adding that it is within the province where the founding father, Michael Sata of the Patriotic Front (PF) was born.
President Lungu said the Late President Sata had a vision for Muchinga and the country at large and his vision was extended to every Zambian despite their tribe.
He added that the foundation of the Patriotic Front (PF) is rooted in the hearts of the people including those in Muchinga Province, adding that the PF vision that the Late President Sata left, should remain and continue to be maintained among the people.
He said President Sata might be gone but his legacy, spirit, good work and patriotism will remain in Muchinga and the country at large.
The Head of State further called on those attending the conference to remain united and patriotic saying the act will help the party to grow and not lose its unity of purpose.
”We are here to work and let the people see what we are doing on the ground, therefore you should not fight for the positions but be united and choose leaders who will work well with the party, ”he said.
President Lungu further wished all those contesting on various positions to make sure that they work well with the party once voted in adding that they should also bear in mind that 2021 is around the corner.
”You need to work for the people as you are aware that the PF is committed in bringing development closer to the people,” the President said.
And in his welcoming remarks, Muchinga Province Patriotic Front Acting Vice Chairperson, Davison Mung’andu said Zambians are fully aware of the Presidents’ Commitment towards improving the welfare of the Zambian people which he holds dearly at heart.
Mr Mung’andu said today marks the beginning of a renewed energy, support and ability of taking the fortune of the party to a greater height.
He urged all those aspiring candidates in different positions that their loyalty should be to the President and the PF party.
The Acting PF Provincial Vice Chairperson added that the aspirations of the Zambian people shall be the fuel of the party.
Mr Mung’andu said Muchinga Province is ready for 2021 and requested for timely support from the President.
Mr Mung’andu said the province is confident of delivering a 100 percent vote in the coming general elections next year because the party officials in the province are gallant soldiers whom he said will never backtrack.
He said all they need in the province as a party is the Party Presidents’ support from time to time.
And when giving a vote of thanks Chinsali Mayor, Thomas Mutale thanked President Edgar Lungu for coming to officially open the provincial conference, adding that Muchinga is ready for 2021 elections.
The Muchinga Patriotic Front (PF) elective conference which is underway will see new provincial executive members ushered in.
Those who attended the official opening of the Muchinga PF Provincial conference are Presidential Affairs Minister, Freedom Sikazwe, Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development Emmanuel Mulenga, Minister of Works and Supply Sylvia Chalikosa, Home Affairs Minister Steven Kampyongo, Muchinga Province Minister Malozo Sichone, Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary, Joyce Nsamba, Senior Government officials, PF General Secretary Davies Mwila and other Members of Parliament within Muchinga Province among others.
Earlier, President Lungu called for commercialization of ideas of students and youths in the country.
President Lungu said students and youths have bright ideas that if actualized can contribute to the economic development of the country.
He was speaking shortly after inspecting fish ponds at Kapasa Makasa University where he also noted local production of fish feed by the students.
