Several ZESCO customers in Northern Province have expressed displeasure over delays by the utility company to connect electricity to their homes despite paying connection fees.

Stephen Chanda of Senga District who spoke on behalf of the group complained to ZANIS in Kasama today that they were disappointed as customers for the poor services being rendered to them by ZESCO.

Mr. Chanda explained that they paid connection fees five months ago to the utility company but to date no single house has been connected to power.

He said each time they make a follow up, the company gives them excuses citing   lack of meters, the situation he described as unfortunate.

But when contacted for a comment, ZESCO spokesperson Henry Kapata said the company had some challenges with power connection materials.

He was also quick to mention that the issue is steadily being normalized as materials have started arriving in the country and will soon be distributed to various parts of the country immediately the auditing process is done.

He has since appealed to ZESCO clients to remain calm, adding that the company is committed to providing quality services to them
