The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) has called on Zambians to turn up in large numbers for the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation slated for October 18th, 2019.
Leader of the SDA Northern Zambia Field, Brighton Mwenya says President Edgar Lungu declared October 18 as a national day of prayer in good faith, adding that it is important that everyone takes part in the event.
ZANIS reports that Pastor Mwenya made the passionate appeal in Chinsali of Muchinga Province yesterday, when he addressed Church Board Members at Chinsali SDA Church.
The Church Board Members were drawn from all the 21 churches in the Central Zone of the Chinsali SDA mission district.
Pastor Mwenya said there is no need to politicize national programmes and events such as national day of prayer.
Pastor Mwenya said it is evident that the country is divided and there is need to promote unity and peace among the Zambian people.
Pastor Mwenya said Zambians regardless of their faith, beliefs and ideologies, should come together and pray to God to heal our country.
The SDA leader said prayer is the best weapon to use when one faces challenges saying the challenges that Zambia is facing can be solved if we turned to God to offer prayers.
Pastor Mwenya said church members, singing groups and other church groupings should turn up in large numbers during the national day of prayer and participate in praying for mother Zambia.
The theme for the 2019 Day of Prayer is “Receiving Times of Refreshing from the Presence of the Lord through Reconciliation Within One Another and the Environment for a Prosperous Zambia”
