The District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) office in Kalabo has appealed to authorities to setup a police post at Liumba Mission.

Education Standards Officer Gloria Mbambara says the police post would help safeguard the area and assure the safety of teachers who were threatening to vacate Liumba Primary School because of crime.

Ms. Mbambara disclosed that teachers at the school were living in fear of their lives and theft of personal property.

She made the disclosure during a management meeting held at the District Administration.

Recently, Acting Kalabo DEBS Sikufele Kabila reported that thieves suspected to be from within the community were breaking into the homes of teachers at the school getting away with their personal property.

Ms. Kabila said the teachers were threatening to vacate the school if the situation did not improve.
