Archbishop of the Kasama Catholic Diocese, Ignatius Chama has advised church leaders to remain selfless when doing the work of God.
Archbishop Chama said the clergy are role models of society and should always endeavor to serve the community with compassion.
He explained that church leaders need to emulate the humility of Christ by serving the community with love and kindness.
Archbishop Chama said this during the Silver Jubilee commemoration of three Catholic Priests at Saint Peter and Saint Paul Parish in Kasama.
The three Catholic Priests namely, Father Nicholas Chileshe, Father Victor Shikaputo and Father Alfred Mupeta were ordained on 7th August 1994.
He has since called on the three Priests to continue working hard on preaching the gospel focusing on the core values of peace, unity and love.
And speaking earlier at his office when National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili paid a courtesy call on him, Archbishop Chama said the Catholic Church remains a key player in the development of the country.
Archbishop Chama said the church is a fundamental element in the governance system of the country.
Meanwhile, National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili said government appreciates the role that the church plays in supplementing its effort of bettering the lives of Zambians.
Reverend Sumaili observed that the church has continued to support government in various sectors of the economy such as health and education.
She further urged the church not to relent in its mission of helping communities in the country.
