Three people have appeared before the Mwense subordinate court for illegal possession of fish during the ongoing fish ban.

Before Mwense Magistrate Fred Mwangala sitting as class II were Luckson Mulolo 31, a driver Joseph Chama 31a bus conductor and Dickson
Mukonko 46 a bus conductor all of chief Kambwali of Nchelenge district.

Particulars were that on January 20, 2020 the trio jointly and while acting together had in possession of 144 Kilogrammes of fresh fish, 45
kilogrammes of Chisense and 25 Kilogrammes of dry fish during the fish ban period without lawful authority from the director of fisheries.

This is contrary to section 14 subsection (1) and subsection (a) and section 60 subsection (a) of the fisheries act cap 200 of the laws of
Zambia.

When the matter came up for plea, the trio pleaded not guilty and applied for bail.

The court granted bail in a sum of K3, 000 for each accused person in his own recognizance and to provide one traceable surety in the like
some who must be a resident of Mwense district.

The matter has since been adjourned to January 29, 2020 for commencement of trial.
