The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation Limited (ZAFFICO) is this year expected to set up plantations in Northern Province.
Provincial Minister, Brian Mundubile disclosed that about 900 jobs are estimated to be created by ZAFFICO once the plantation project kicks off.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Mundubile, who is also Mporokoso area Member of Parliament, said a number of areas in the province have been selected for the forest plantations.
He said a 5, 000 hectare piece of land in Mporokoso district has since been identified for the project while, another portion in Kasama is also earmarked for the project.
Mr. Mundubile said his office is elated with the development as it will help reduce levels of unemployment in the region.
He added that the project has come at the right time when the provincial administration is on drive to create jobs through industrialization.
