Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) has advised small scale farmers to engage in conservation farming.

ZNFU Media and Public Relations Manager Calvin Kaleyi said conservation farming is one of the best and effective method of farming and that farmers using this method are currently doing well.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr. Kaleyi stated that the concept of conservation farming enhances and protects the ecosystem.

He added that this type of farming is important to the country because it will help to balance the ecosystem.

Mr. Kaleyi reiterated that conservation farming is the best way to go if issues surrounding climate change are to be addressed.

He added that ZNFU in conjunction with the Conservation Farming Unit have been working together to sensitize farmers on the importance of this type of farming.

Mr. Kaleyi added that the sensitization has been an on-going programme and some farmers have adopted to the change and was optimistic that others will change as well.
